Relative Value

The Relative Value of Things is a document of discarded items. For several years I have kept a list of everything I get rid of, this does not include garbage – only functional items I thought I needed.  This purging and chronicling began as an attempt to own less, use things wisely and take up less space on the planet.

This website is an extension of the project and is an attempt to turn the process into a collaboration- please consider becoming involved.  On this website you have the opportunity to document your own archive of discarded objects- you may post images, lists, written entries of your struggles to own less- you can list objects you would like to give away or suggest strategies you have used to divest yourself of all those unneeded things.

The website will remain active until May 2010. After that time I will begin using the postings to create the, as of yet unknown, final part of The Relative Value of Things.

I don’t know what that piece will be, only that it will be dictated by what is posted here.  All those who post will be listed as contributors and will be notified when the final piece is completed.

So here’s to owning less, needing fewer things and selecting more wisely!!

Please consider being part of this on going project by contributing your own images and or lists of things you wish to divest yourself of……

Happy culling
